If you’re looking to buy your first pickup truck but aren’t sure where to begin, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together a list of helpful tips for potential new truck owners.
It’s Not a Car
Though this should go without saying, buying and maintaining
a truck is significantly different from owning a car. Because trucks are
significantly larger and differently shaped, you’ll definitely want to make
sure you test drive your truck before you buy it to make sure you like how
trucks handle. It’s also harder to park a truck — both at the grocery store and
in your garage — so make sure you are prepared.
Only Get What You
Most pickup owners only use a small portion of their truck’s
capability. Know what you need your truck to do so you don’t end up with too
much truck for your lifestyle. Make sure to consider bed length, cabin size,
and capabilities as well.
Buy from a Dealership
Dealerships like Amistad Motors have huge pickup truck
inventories, so you’re more likely to find what you’re looking for on our lot
than from a third party. Our truck specialists can special-order a pickup that
meets your exact specifications if we don’t have it in stock.
Visit our dealership in Fort Stockton, Texas, to test-drive your preferred model — or go online to browse our inventory of new and pre-owned pickup trucks.

your mom relies on her vehicle or just really loves to cruise around Fort Stockton,

Give it the works
Moms can be busy people, so it might be difficult for yours
to find the time she needs to break away and bring her Chevy in for service.
This is where you take over: Drop mom off for a day of getting her nails done
and getting pampered at the spa and bring her ride in to Amistad Motors for a
comprehensive service visit. If you noticed that her ride needs fresh tires or
some brake work, we’ll get it done quickly and affordably so that you can be
there to scoop her up and take her to dinner. Don’t forget a full professional
detailing to get her car sparkling like new.
Pro tip: Let your mom know how much she means to you every day, but do that little extra something special for her this Mother’s Day with a wonderful gift. The team at Amistad Motors is here to help.
Recently named the 2020 North American Car of the Year, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the first mid-engine version of this classic American sports car. The award — one of the most prestigious in the industry — is chosen by a special jury of auto journalists and experts. In particular, its new design and exceptional performance helped the Stingray to leave the competition in its tracks.
The North American Car of the Year award specifically
recognizes vehicles that excel in innovation, design, safety, performance,
technology, value, and driver satisfaction. The next-generation Corvette has a
revolutionary mid-engine design, which you can see through the rear window. The
LT2 V8 engine was completely reengineered for 2020, and you can also opt for a
special carbon-fiber package.
“The 2020 Corvette represents a new era for the iconic
brand,” said Lauren Fix, North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year
president. “The excitement from consumers has been overwhelming. From a
journalist’s perspective, this is one of the best-built GM products that
exemplifies what it means to be the North American Car of the Year.”
What else is new on the 2020 Stingray? One of the other most
notable features is the first-even production retractable hardtop option. The
hardtop can retract at speeds up to 30 mph, and it has six electric motors to
ensure reliability and speed.
Without drastically increasing its price tag, the 2021 Chevrolet
Tahoe will offer drivers more room than ever. In fact, cargo space is set to
increase 66 percent. There’s also more legroom and shoulder room for
The Chevrolet Suburban, long a staple in the Chevrolet
lineup, will receive a brand-new set of advanced safety features for drivers to
employ. Among these safety systems are an HD Rear Vision Camera, Rear Park
Assist, and Hitch Guidance for trailering. The 2021 model of the Tahoe will
also be adding many of these features to its own safety suite.
Both of these SUVs come equipped with an independent rear
suspension for a smoother ride. They’re also available with an Air Ride
Adaptive Suspension system and Magnetic Ride Control, which Chevrolet describes
as “the most advanced available suspension in the segment.”

This engine, a 3.0-liter inline-six, cranks
out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, Silverado diesel
models can tow up to 9,300 pounds and handle a payload of up to 1,870 pounds.
The Duramax® turbo-diesel is just as efficient
as it is strong. In recent testing by the EPA, two-wheel-drive Silverado diesel
models achieved 23 mpg in the city and an outstanding 33 mpg on the highway.*
Four-wheel-drive models got 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.*
Compare those numbers to the Silverado’s
diesel competitor, the Powerstroke-equipped Ford F-150. The 2WD diesel F-150
gets just 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg, and the 4WD model gets only 20 mpg in
the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
Not only does the Silverado 1500’s diesel
engine top the competition, it also delivers better fuel efficiency than many
family cars, including the Toyota Camry and Subaru Legacy.
The diesel-equipped 2020 Silverado 1500 will be arriving soon at Amistad Motors, where you can experience its capabilities for yourself with a test drive.
