Nothing feels quite the same as the added sense of power and visibility you get while driving a truck that’s been lifted. Is a truck lift kit right for your vehicle? Here at Amistad Motors, we’ve rounded up some of the pros and cons of adjusting your pickup’s height.
Body lift kits
If you’re just looking for an extra couple inches of ride
height, a body lift kit might be your solution. These kits accomplish the lift
with a spacer that goes between the truck’s body and frame. You’ll get 2 or 3
inches of extra clearance so you can stand out and go off road — but you won’t
have to worry about your ride quality getting rougher. Body lift kits leave
your vehicle’s factory suspension alone and don’t require new shocks. One thing
to be aware of is that a body lift can change the looks of your truck, making
the frame visible through the wheel wells.
Suspension lift kits
Suspension lift kits are quite a bit more involved than body
lift kits. With these kits, you can raise your truck much higher and
accommodate bigger tires if desired. It’s also a way to get more suspension
articulation. However, suspension lift kits require more maintenance, can
reduce your vehicle’s ride quality, and may even void the warranty.

Recently named the 2020 North American Car of the Year, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the first mid-engine version of this classic American sports car. The award — one of the most prestigious in the industry — is chosen by a special jury of auto journalists and experts. In particular, its new design and exceptional performance helped the Stingray to leave the competition in its tracks.
The North American Car of the Year award specifically
recognizes vehicles that excel in innovation, design, safety, performance,
technology, value, and driver satisfaction. The next-generation Corvette has a
revolutionary mid-engine design, which you can see through the rear window. The
LT2 V8 engine was completely reengineered for 2020, and you can also opt for a
special carbon-fiber package.
“The 2020 Corvette represents a new era for the iconic
brand,” said Lauren Fix, North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year
president. “The excitement from consumers has been overwhelming. From a
journalist’s perspective, this is one of the best-built GM products that
exemplifies what it means to be the North American Car of the Year.”
What else is new on the 2020 Stingray? One of the other most
notable features is the first-even production retractable hardtop option. The
hardtop can retract at speeds up to 30 mph, and it has six electric motors to
ensure reliability and speed.

This engine, a 3.0-liter inline-six, cranks
out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, Silverado diesel
models can tow up to 9,300 pounds and handle a payload of up to 1,870 pounds.
The Duramax® turbo-diesel is just as efficient
as it is strong. In recent testing by the EPA, two-wheel-drive Silverado diesel
models achieved 23 mpg in the city and an outstanding 33 mpg on the highway.*
Four-wheel-drive models got 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.*
Compare those numbers to the Silverado’s
diesel competitor, the Powerstroke-equipped Ford F-150. The 2WD diesel F-150
gets just 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg, and the 4WD model gets only 20 mpg in
the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
Not only does the Silverado 1500’s diesel
engine top the competition, it also delivers better fuel efficiency than many
family cars, including the Toyota Camry and Subaru Legacy.
The diesel-equipped 2020 Silverado 1500 will be arriving soon at Amistad Motors, where you can experience its capabilities for yourself with a test drive.
