At the world-renowned Cal City Desert Challenge, the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 once again triumphed in the Best in the Desert class championship. This win marks the fourth time in a row that the Colorado ZR2 has won the title. It’s also the second consecutive win for the Silverado ZR2. Both models were fielded by Chad Hall Racing, a team that tests and validates some of the best race-inspired Chevrolet accessories on the market.
Roger McCormack, the director of Accessories and Performance Parts Marketing at Chevrolet celebrated the big wins at the Best in the Desert Series. “The successes for both vehicles, which are very close to the production models, wouldn’t have been possible without the closely synced relationship between Chad Hall Racing and the Chevrolet engineering team,” he stated.
By racing these trucks, Chevrolet engineers can further refine their designs and validate performance-boosting accessories. For instance, the Colorado ZR2 race truck has been ground zero for testing 15 official accessories, including jounce shocks, long-travel leaf springs, and Multimatic long-travel DSSV dampers.

The power, capability, and toughness of Chevrolet’s truck lineup was on full display last month at one of the auto industry’s biggest annual showcases.
Without a doubt, the Chevy Beast off-road concept was one of the most exciting vehicles on display at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This mighty truck boasts a 650-horsepower supercharged Chevrolet Performance engine and impressive desert-running capabilities.
The Chevy Beast sits on a modified Silverado chassis and incorporates a special off-road suspension, a widened track, and lightweight body customization. A two-speed transfer case and 37-inch off-road tires make the Beast even more capable.
The design of the Chevy Beast is equally impressive, featuring touches like tubular doors, a clamshell hood and custom grille, Recaro® performance seats, and dual 7-inch screens.
The Beast wasn’t the only Chevy truck making a splash at SEMA. The all-new 2022 Silverado ZR2 showed off its incredible off-road-ready features and design, including a factory lift, Multimatic DSSV® dampers, and high-approach bumpers. Another 2022 Silverado model, the High Country Midnight concept, presented blacked-out accents and features like 22-inch black wheels, a power tonneau cover, and a KICKER® tailgate audio system.
SEMA attendees also had the opportunity to check out models like the Silverado 3500HD Hoonigan concept, Colorado ZR2 Extreme Off-Road, and the Tahoe Z71 Overlanding concept.
